The Viennese Tuning Collection is created to provide a completely revised and corrected edition for the modern Viennese Bass player as well as the modern Bass player who wants to play it in solo-tuning. Both parts are provided and just a few details are changed for the modern solo-tuning, in order to be playable. The edition preserves the original music with the minimal interference from the editor, that due to the circumstances in which the originals are, realized small corrections in articulations, dynamics and wrong notes. In an effort to make the Viennese tuning and its praxis more popular between modern Bassists, it was adapted to modern notation (sounding one octave down as written).

The original manuscripts from this piece are in individual parts, no score is available nowadays and, although it is written on this manuscripts that the orchestra accompaniment has been composed for strings, two oboes and two horns, the horn parts are missing. We decided in this edition to print what is available originally from all instruments, meaning without horns, since we can not really know what the horns would be doing originally. Nevertheless, it does not affect the harmonies or the musical result of the piece, that sounds quite complete.

According to that, the Sinfonia in D Major from Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf is presented here in a “Urtext” edition and based in the original individual manuscripts.

This set is the orchestra full score.
